Youth of May

Youth of May (Korean: 오월의 청춘; RR: Owolui Chungchoon) is a South Korean television drama series that aired on KBS2 from May 3 to June 8, 2021. The series consists of 12 episodes and was broadcast on Mondays and Tuesdays at 21:30. It was directed by Song Min-Yeop and written by Lee Kang.

Plot

The narrative is set in May 1980 against the backdrop of the Gwangju Uprising. The story follows the romance between Hwang Hee-Tae (Lee Do-Hyun), a medical student who entered university at the top of his class, and Kim Myung-Hee (Go Min-Si), a nurse who has been working for three years. The series explores their relationship as they navigate the personal and societal turmoil of the era.

Production

Youth of May occupied the Monday and Tuesday 21:30 time slot on KBS2, following the conclusion of River Where The Moon Rises. It was succeeded by At a Distance, Spring is Green on June 14, 2021. The lead actors, Lee Do-Hyun and Go Min-Si, had previously collaborated on the 2020 Netflix series Sweet Home.
