Yongsoon is a South Korean drama film released in 2017, written and directed by Shin Joon. The film explores the life of an 18-year-old high school student as she navigates the complexities of adolescence, unrequited affection, and shifting family dynamics.

Plot

The story follows Yong-soon, a high school student who develops a crush on her gym teacher. Her attempts to uncover whether he is involved with someone else lead her into a series of personal complications. Simultaneously, her domestic life is disrupted when her father introduces a new stepmother from Mongolia, forcing Yong-soon to confront changes within her home environment.

Production and Release

The film was directed and written by Shin Joon, with cinematography by Kwon Young-Il and production by Kim Ji-Hye. It held its world premiere at the Busan International Film Festival in October 2016 before receiving a theatrical release in South Korea on June 8, 2017. The film has a runtime of 104 minutes and was distributed by Lotte Entertainment.
