Yeon Sang-Ho: South Korean Filmmaker and Director
Yeon Sang-Ho (born 1978) is a prominent South Korean film director, screenwriter, and creator known for his work in both animated and live-action cinema, as well as television drama series. Born in South Korea, he established himself as a distinct voice in modern genre storytelling through critically acclaimed animated features before transitioning into major live-action blockbusters and streaming series.

Career and Filmography
Yeon began gaining widespread attention with his animated directorial works, including The King of Pigs (2011) and The Fake (2013), which explored dark themes and social critique. His transition to live-action filmmaking reached international acclaim with the zombie thriller Train to Busan (2016), for which he also provided a voice role in the control room. He subsequently directed the companion animated film Seoul Station (2016) and live-action sequels and features such as Psychokinesis (2018), Peninsula (2020), Jung_E (2023), and projects slated for release including The Ugly (2025), Revelations (2025), Paradise Lost (2026), and Colony (2026).
In addition to feature films, Yeon has expanded into streaming television drama series as a writer and director. Notably, he created and directed the Netflix series Hellbound (2021) and its subsequent second season (2024), adapted his webcomic works, and helmed Parasyte: The Grey (2024), alongside screenwriting credits for projects like The Cursed (2020), Monstrous (2022), The Bequeathed (2024), and Human Vapor (2026).

Yeon's directorial and screenwriting work has earned numerous industry accolades. At the 16th Busan International Film Festival in 2011, his work on The King of Pigs earned the NETPAC Award, the Movie Collage Award, and the DGK Award for Director. He later received the Korean International Critics Award for The Fake at the 34th Korean Association of Film Critics Awards in 2014, and the Best New Director award at the 53rd BaekSang Arts Awards in 2017 for Train to Busan.
