Yell (Japanese Television Series)
Yell (Japanese: エール, Hepburn: Eru) is a Japanese television drama series produced by NHK. It is the 102nd installment in the network's long-running asadora (morning drama) series. The show aired in two parts during 2020, with the first segment running from March 30 to June 26, and the second from September 14 to November 27.
Background and Production
The series is a dramatized account of the lives of the renowned Japanese composer Yuji Koseki (1909–1989) and his wife, Kinko. The narrative follows the protagonist, Yuichi Koyama, a young man from Fukushima who aspires to be a composer, and his wife, Oto, who dreams of becoming a professional singer. Their story begins with a long-distance correspondence that eventually leads to their marriage and shared pursuit of musical success.

The series features a large ensemble cast, with the central roles of Yuichi Koyama and Oto Sekiuchi portrayed by Masataka Kubota and Fumi Nikaido, respectively.


Broadcast History
Yell occupied the NHK Monday through Friday 8:00 AM time slot. It followed the conclusion of the drama Scarlet and was succeeded by Ochoyan in late 2020. The series consists of 120 episodes, each with a 15-minute runtime.
