When Life Gives You Tangerines (Korean: 폭싹 속았수다) is a South Korean television series directed by Kim Won-suk and written by Im Sang-choon. The drama is set on Jeju Island and follows the lives of two central characters, Oh Ae-sun and Yang Gwan-sik, across several decades, beginning in the 1950s.
Plot
The story centers on the relationship between Oh Ae-sun (played by IU) and Yang Gwan-sik (played by Park Bo-gum). Ae-sun is depicted as a rebellious and book-loving individual who, despite facing socioeconomic barriers that prevent her from attending school, remains determined to pursue her dream of becoming a poet. Gwan-sik is characterized as a diligent and sincere man who maintains a steadfast devotion to Ae-sun.
