What Happened on Island? (Korean: 섬마을 선생님; RR: Seommaeul Seonsaengnim) is a South Korean television drama series that aired on SBS from June 2 to July 22, 2004. The series consists of 16 episodes and was directed by Kim Yeong-Seop with a screenplay written by Lee Yoon-Jin.

Plot

The story follows Hong Eun-soo, a woman raised by her aunt under difficult circumstances despite her mother's background as a teacher and her father's involvement in organized crime. Eun-soo aspires to study art in Paris, but her life takes a drastic turn when she witnesses a murder at a nightclub on the eve of her planned departure.

The victim was a key witness against a powerful crime boss named Yang Nak-chul. Detective Cho Ho-tae, who was monitoring the situation, identifies Eun-soo as the sole witness to the crime. To ensure her safety, Ho-tae places Eun-soo into a witness protection program, leading them to a remote island. The narrative tension escalates as Yang Nak-chul pursues them, unaware that Eun-soo is actually his daughter.
