Wataru Hiranami

Wataru Hiranami (Japanese: 平波亘) is a Japanese film and television director and screenwriter born in 1978 in Nagano Prefecture, Japan.

Career

Hiranami has worked across multiple roles in the Japanese entertainment industry, contributing as a director, assistant director, and screenwriter for both cinema and television productions.

Directing and Writing

In 2016, Hiranami directed and wrote the feature film Easter Nightmare (released in Japanese as Isuta Naitomea: Shi no Isuta Bani). His television work includes directing for the TV Tokyo drama series Keiji, Furidashi ni Modoru (2026).

Assistant Directing

Prior to and alongside his work as a main director, Hiranami gained experience as an assistant director on several film projects, including Dawn (2014), Their Distance (2016), and Tsumugu Mono (2016).
