Warriors of the Dawn (2017 Film)
Warriors of the Dawn (Korean: 대립군; RR: Daeribgoon) is a 2017 South Korean historical drama film directed by Jeong Yoon-Chul. Set during the 16th-century Japanese invasions of Korea, the film explores the lives of the daeribgun—individuals who were paid to serve in the military on behalf of others.

Plot
During the Japanese invasions, King Seonjo flees to the Ming dynasty, abandoning his subjects. In his absence, Prince Gwanghae is tasked with leading the royal court. The narrative follows the interactions between the young prince and a group of proxy soldiers, led by To-Woo, who have been hired to fight in the place of those unable to serve.
Production
The film was directed by Jeong Yoon-Chul, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Shin Do-Young. Principal photography commenced on September 5, 2016, and concluded on January 10, 2017. During its development, the film was known by the working title The Proxy Soldiers.
