Plot

The story follows Moo Jin-hyuk (Jang Hyuk), a once-celebrated detective whose life falls apart after his wife is murdered by a serial killer. Consumed by guilt and a desire for justice, he begins a secret quest to track down the perpetrator. He eventually crosses paths with Kang Kwon-joo (Lee Ha-na), a police academy graduate who works at the 112 emergency call center. Kwon-joo possesses exceptional auditory skills, which she uses to profile criminals. Her own life was marked by tragedy when her father, a police sergeant, was murdered while responding to a crime scene—a moment she heard unfold over the phone. Together, Jin-hyuk and Kwon-joo form a specialized team to solve cases and pursue the serial killer responsible for their respective family tragedies.

The series was originally developed under the working title The Voice before being shortened to Voice. During the casting process, the lead female role was offered to actresses Bae Doo-na and Chun Woo-hee, both of whom declined the offer.
