Villains (Korean: 빌런즈) is a South Korean crime thriller television series produced for the streaming platform TVING. Plot Overview
The story centers on the activities of a criminal planner known by the code name J, portrayed by Yoo Ji-Tae. J is characterized by his meticulous planning and a high success rate in his criminal operations, which he views as artistic masterpieces. The plot is set in motion by a criminal scheme orchestrated by J five years prior to the main events of the series, which significantly altered the lives of several individuals.
Among those affected is Cha Gi-Tae (Lee Beom-Soo), a former head of a financial crime unit at the National Intelligence Service (NIS), whose life was upended by J's past actions. He dedicates himself to tracking down the elusive criminal. Simultaneously, Han Su-Hyun (Lee Min-Jung), whose life was also ruined by the same event, seeks retribution. Having acquired advanced counterfeit production techniques from a mentor known as Master Yang, she emerges as a skilled bill artist, waiting for the opportunity to confront J.
The narrative also involves Jang Jung-Hyuk (Kwak Do-Won), a corrupt detective who exploits his position to engage in bribery and theft, further complicating the power struggle between the various factions involved in the counterfeit operation.
