Tunnel (2017 South Korean Television Series)

Tunnel (Korean: 터널; RR: Teoneol) is a South Korean crime thriller television series that aired on the cable network OCN. The series premiered on March 25, 2017, and concluded on May 21, 2017, consisting of 16 episodes. It occupied the Saturday and Sunday 22:00 time slot, following the conclusion of Voice and preceding Duel.

Plot

The narrative follows Park Gwang-Ho, a dedicated detective in 1986 who is hunting a serial killer. During a pursuit, he enters a tunnel and emerges in the year 2017. Upon discovering that the serial killer from his past has resumed his crimes after 30 years, Park Gwang-Ho collaborates with detective Kim Sun-Jae and criminal psychology professor Shin Jae-Yi to apprehend the perpetrator.

Production

The series was directed by Shin Yong-Hwi and Nam Ki-Hoon, with a screenplay written by Lee Eun-Mi. Production began in late December 2016, with the first script reading held at the CJ E&M Center in Sangam-dong, Seoul. Due to the South Korean presidential election and the associated holiday period, the broadcast schedule for episodes 13 and 14 was adjusted from May 6–7, 2017, to May 13–14, 2017.
