Trot Lovers

Trot Lovers (Korean: 트로트의 연인; RR: Teuroteuui Yeonin) is a South Korean television drama series that aired on KBS2 in 2014. The series, which consists of 16 episodes, explores the intersection of professional music careers and the traditional Korean musical genre known as trot.

Plot

The story follows Jang Joon-Hyun, a popular and talented musician who holds a dismissive view of trot music. His perspective is challenged when he crosses paths with Choi Choon-Hee, a woman who is deeply passionate about the genre and works tirelessly to support her family. Their professional and personal lives become intertwined as they navigate the music industry.

Production

The series was directed by Lee Jae-Sang and Lee Eun-Jin, with a screenplay written by Oh Sun-Hyung. It occupied the Monday and Tuesday 21:55 time slot on KBS2, premiering on June 23, 2014, and concluding on August 12, 2014. It followed the conclusion of Big Man and was succeeded by Discovery of Love.

Cast

The main cast includes Ji Hyun-Woo as Jang Joon-Hyun and Jung Eun-Ji as Choi Choon-Hee. Supporting roles are played by Shin Sung-Rok as Jo Geun-Woo, Lee Se-Young as Park Soo-In, and Son Ho-Jun as Seol Tae-Song.

Awards

At the 2014 KBS Drama Awards, Shin Sung-Rok received the Best Supporting Actor award, and Jung Eun-Ji was honored with the Popularity Actress Award.
