Troll Factory (2024 Film)

Troll Factory (Korean: 댓글부대; RR: Daetgeulboodae) is a 2024 South Korean crime drama film directed by Ahn Gooc-Jin. The film is an adaptation of the 2015 novel Daetgeulboodae written by Jang Kang-Myeong.

Plot

The story follows Im Sang-Jin (played by Son Suk-Ku), a newspaper reporter who faces professional suspension after writing a critical report concerning a major conglomerate. His career takes a turn when he receives a tip regarding the existence of a troll farm known as Team Allep. As he investigates the group—comprised of members Jjingbboekking (Kim Sung-Cheol), Chattatkat (Kim Dong-Hwi), and Paebtaek (Hong Kyung)—he uncovers a powerful entity operating behind the scenes.

Production

The film is based on the novel Daetgeulboodae by Jang Kang-Myeong, which was published on November 30, 2015, by Eunhaengnamu. Principal photography for the film commenced on March 6, 2023. The production was distributed by Acemaker Movie Works.
