Top Star (Korean: 톱스타; RR: Topseuta) is a 2013 South Korean drama film that serves as the directorial debut of veteran actor Park Joong-Hoon. The film examines the competitive and often volatile nature of the South Korean entertainment industry, focusing on the shifting power dynamics between a top-tier actor and his ambitious manager.

Plot
The story follows Tae-Sik (Uhm Tae-Woong), who works as a dedicated manager for the famous actor Won-Joon (Kim Min-Jun). While managing Won-Joon's career, Tae-Sik harbors his own aspirations of becoming a successful actor. His trajectory changes significantly when Won-Joon becomes embroiled in a hit-and-run accident. Amidst this crisis, Tae-Sik finds himself navigating personal and professional conflicts, particularly regarding his feelings for Mi-Na (So E-Hyun), a drama producer who is involved in a secret relationship with Won-Joon.

The film was written by Choi Suk-Hwan and Park Joong-Hoon. Principal photography commenced on March 24, 2013, at a cart bar in Hongje-dong, Seoul, and concluded on June 14, 2013, at Dosan Park, Seoul.



Release and Festivals
Top Star held its world premiere at the 18th Busan International Film Festival on October 5, 2013. It was subsequently released in South Korean theaters on October 24, 2013, distributed by Lotte Entertainment. The film was also screened at the 13th New York Asian Film Festival in 2014, marking its North American premiere.
