Top Secret (Korean: 1급기밀; RR: 1Geubgimil) is a 2018 South Korean drama film directed by Hong Ki-Seon. The film explores themes of military corruption and whistleblowing within the South Korean Ministry of National Defense.

Plot

Park Dae-Ik (Kim Sang-Kyung) is a lieutenant colonel serving as the chief of the aircraft component purchasing section at the Ministry of National Defense. His work takes a turn when fighter pilot Lieutenant Kang Young-Woo (Jung Il-Woo) raises concerns regarding the quality of components supplied by a U.S. company, Air Star. Following a fatal crash involving Kang's fighter jet, the military attempts to blame the pilot for the incident. Park Dae-Ik begins a secret investigation, uncovering a corrupt deal between the Ministry of National Defense and the Pentagon. To expose the truth, he collaborates with reporter Kim Jung-Sook (Kim Ok-Vin).

Production

The film was directed by Hong Ki-Seon. Principal photography for the project commenced on September 24, 2016, and concluded on December 9, 2016. It was distributed by Little Big Pictures and released in South Korea on January 24, 2018.
