Top Caster (Japanese: トップキャスター), also known as Top Anchor, is a Japanese television drama series that aired on Fuji TV from April 17 to June 26, 2006. The series consists of 11 episodes and was broadcast in the 21:00–21:54 time slot.
Production
The series was written by Yuji Sakamoto, known for his work on various Japanese dramas including Tokyo Love Story. The direction was handled by Shin Hirano, Hiroki Hayama, and Go Shichitaka.
Plot
The story is set within the news bureau of a commercial television network. It follows Haruka Tsubaki, a successful and highly regarded anchorwoman known for securing major news scoops. Despite her professional reputation for being cold and detached, she possesses a more empathetic side. The narrative explores the professional rivalry and personal dynamics between Tsubaki and a younger, idealistic newscaster whose values differ significantly from her own. The series blends workplace drama with elements of comedy, focusing on the lives, friendships, and challenges faced by the news staff.
