Themselves (2011 South Korean Film)

Themselves, also known by its literal Korean title Bada (meaning "Sea"), is a South Korean independent road film released on September 1, 2011. The film was written and directed by Yoon Taek-Sik.

Plot

The narrative centers on Tae-Sung (played by Jeon Ji-Hwan), a visually impaired man who perceives the world through his senses and mind. While preparing for a solo journey, Tae-Sung is involved in a minor accident with a car driven by Jin-Yi (Kim Jin-Yi), a woman struggling with emotional distress. Although Jin-Yi offers to take him to a hospital, Tae-Sung declines and instead requests that she drive him to his intended destination.

As the pair prepares to depart, they encounter Su-Hee (Ko Su-Hee), a heavyweight female boxer who attempts to jump in front of Jin-Yi's vehicle in an act of despair. Following her failed suicide attempt, Su-Hee joins Jin-Yi and Tae-Sung on their road trip, leading the three characters to navigate their personal conflicts together.

Production

The film was produced by Yoon Kyoung-Don and Yoon Tae-Sik, with cinematography by Kim Suk-Jung. It features a runtime of 98 minutes and was distributed by Mountain Pictures.
