The Winning Script (Japanese: 勝利の法廷式, Hepburn: Shōri no Hōteishiki) is a Japanese television legal drama series that aired in 2023. The series was broadcast on NTV and YTV as part of their Thursday night programming block.

Plot

The story follows Ran Kagura (played by Mirai Shida), a lawyer who steps away from the legal profession after failing to secure an acquittal for a close friend accused of murder. One year later, a series of popular legal essays written under her name begins circulating online, gaining attention for their sharp analysis. The true author of these essays is Jin Kurosawa (Shunsuke Kazama), a mysterious and talented writer. Kurosawa eventually reveals himself to Kagura, and the two form an unlikely partnership. Together, they work to uncover the truth behind the original murder case, which holds deep secrets involving both Kagura's friend and Kurosawa himself.

Production and Broadcast

The series consists of 10 episodes and was directed by Tadaaki Horai and Ryuichi Honda, with scripts written by Nobuaki Kotani and Takaaki Honda. It occupied the Thursday 23:59 time slot on NTV, succeeding the drama Lost and Found and preceding The Crimes of Those Women, which premiered on July 20, 2023.
