The Trunk is a South Korean television series released on November 29, 2024, on the streaming platform Netflix. The drama is based on the 2015 novel of the same name by author Kim Ryeo-Ryeong, published by Changbi Publishers. The series was directed by Kim Kyu-tae with a screenplay written by Park Eun-young.

Plot

The story centers on Noh In-ji (played by Seo Hyun-jin), an employee at a contract marriage service provider known as NM. The company facilitates fixed-term, one-year marriage contracts for its clients. In-ji, having completed four such contracts, enters her fifth with Han Jeong-won (played by Gong Yoo).

Jeong-won is a music producer struggling with deep-seated anxiety and loneliness stemming from his past. His former wife, Seo-yeon, was the one who originally applied for the NM service on his behalf. As In-ji and Jeong-won begin their life together, their relationship evolves. The narrative takes a turn when a mysterious trunk is discovered in a lake, triggering an investigation into the secrets surrounding the NM company.
