The Sound of Magic (South Korean TV Series)

The Sound of Magic is a South Korean fantasy drama series released on Netflix on May 6, 2022. The six-episode series is an adaptation of the webcomic Annarasumanara, written and illustrated by Ha Il-Kwon, which was originally serialized on Naver between 2010 and 2011. The drama was directed by Kim Sung-Yoon with a screenplay by Kim Min-Jung.

Plot

The story centers on Yoon A-Yi (played by Choi Sung-Eun), a high school student struggling with poverty and the absence of her parents. Despite the burden of supporting herself and her younger sister through part-time work, she maintains high academic standards. Her life changes when she encounters a mysterious magician named Ri-Eul (Ji Chang-Wook) at an abandoned amusement park. Ri-Eul performs magic for those who claim to believe in it, offering comfort to A-Yi as she grapples with the pressures of growing up and the desire for a stable future. Her classmate, Na Il-Deung (Hwang In-Yeop), who is her academic rival, also becomes involved in their world.
