The Showdown (2011 Film)

The Showdown (Korean: 혈투; RR: Hyultoo) is a 2011 South Korean historical action film written and directed by Park Hoon-jung. The film is set in 1619 during the transition between the Ming and Qing dynasties in China.

Plot

The narrative follows three Korean soldiers who survive a brutal conflict between Chinese and Korean forces in Manchuria. Having been coerced into fighting for the Ming Dynasty, the men are burdened by their pasts and the trauma of the battlefield. As they seek refuge in a tavern, they find themselves locked in a tense, life-or-death struggle against one another while being pursued by enemy forces.

Production and Release

The Showdown was directed and written by Park Hoon-jung. It was released in South Korea on February 24, 2011, with a runtime of 111 minutes. The film was distributed by Sidus Pictures. It received an international festival premiere at the 13th Udine Far East Film Festival in 2011.
