The Restless (Korean: 중천; RR: Joongcheon) is a 2006 South Korean fantasy-action film directed by Jo Dong-oh. The film explores themes of reincarnation and the afterlife, blending martial arts choreography with fantasy elements.
Plot
The narrative centers on the concept of Jungcheon, a purgatory-like realm where human souls spend 49 days before their ultimate fate—heaven, hell, or reincarnation—is determined. Yi Gwak, a skilled demon hunter who served with the elite Chuhyongdae squad, finds himself in this realm after suffering a near-death experience in the mortal world. In Jungcheon, he encounters a spirit named So-hwa, who bears a striking resemblance to his deceased fiancée, Yon-hwa. However, she has no memory of her past life. As Yi Gwak navigates this afterlife, he becomes embroiled in a conflict between forces seeking to preserve the cycle of reincarnation and dark spirits attempting to destroy it.

Production
