The Moon (2023 South Korean Film)

The Moon (Korean: 더 문) is a 2023 South Korean science fiction drama film directed and written by Kim Yong-Hwa. The film depicts the survival and rescue efforts surrounding an astronaut stranded in space following a lunar mission accident.

Plot

The story follows Hwang Sun-Woo (Do Kyung-Soo), an astronaut who becomes isolated on the Moon after a catastrophic accident during a space mission. Back on Earth, former flight director Kim Jae-Kook (Sul Kyung-Gu) works to coordinate a desperate rescue operation to bring Sun-Woo home safely.

Production

The production of The Moon took place in 2021. Principal photography commenced on June 6, 2021, and concluded on October 12, 2021. The film was distributed by CJ Entertainment and released in South Korea on August 2, 2023.
