The Lies Within

The Lies Within (Korean: 모두의 거짓말; RR: Modooui Geojitmal) is a South Korean television series that aired on the OCN network from October 12 to December 1, 2019. The 16-episode thriller drama was directed by Lee Yoon-jung and written by Jeon Young-shin and Won Yoo-jung.

Plot

The story follows Jo Tae-sik (Lee Min-ki), a detective who seeks a quiet, ordinary life in a rural police substation. His plans are interrupted when he is assigned to investigate the suspicious death of lawmaker Kim Seung-cheol, who died in a car accident. During the investigation, the lawmaker's son-in-law goes missing. Kim Seo-hui (Lee Yoo-young), the daughter of the late lawmaker, enters the political sphere to uncover the truth behind her father's death and locate her missing husband. Together, Jo and Kim work to expose a complex conspiracy.

Production

The series held its first script reading in June 2019 in Sangam-dong, Seoul. It occupied the OCN Saturday and Sunday 22:20 time slot, succeeding the series Strangers From Hell and preceding Tell Me What You Saw.
