The Legend of Kitchen Soldier (Korean: 취사병 전설이 되다; RR: Chwisabyeong Jeonseolyi Dweda; literally: The Military Cook Becomes a Legend) is a 2026 South Korean television drama series. Directed by Jo Nam-Hyeong and written by Choi Ryong, the series is an adaptation of the Naver webcomic of the same name written by J Robin and illustrated by Lee Jin-Su.

Production and Broadcast Background

The series was broadcast on tvN and streaming platform TVING, running for 12 episodes from May 11 to June 16, 2026, in the Monday and Tuesday 20:50 time slot. It occupied the schedule following Yumi's Cells S3 and was subsequently succeeded by See You at Work Tomorrow on June 22, 2026.

The underlying source material, the webcomic Chwisabyeong Jeonseolyi Dweda, was serialized on Naver between April 19, 2019, and October 20, 2023.

Synopsis

The story follows Kang Seong-Jae, a soldier who is transferred to the Ganglim Post. Raised by a single, impoverished father and drawing from his experience helping out at his family's food truck, Seong-Jae is assigned to work as an assistant in the cafeteria kitchen under Military Cook Yoon Dong-Hyun. As he performs his military duties, a game-like hologram interface known as the "Cook's path" appears before him, providing quests that help him advance his culinary abilities and gain recognition among his peers.
