The King's Affection
The King's Affection (Korean: 연모; RR: Yeonmo) is a South Korean television series that aired on KBS2 from October 11 to December 14, 2021. The drama is based on the comic Yeonmo, written by Lee So-Young and published by Daewon C.I. between 2011 and 2014. The series was directed by Song Hyun-Wook with a screenplay by Han Hee-Jung.
Plot
The story follows a royal family that considers the birth of twins to be an ominous sign. When the Crown Prince's wife gives birth to twins, the daughter is ordered to be killed, but her mother secretly sends her away from the palace to save her life. Years later, when the twin son, Lee Hwi, is killed, the mother hides his death and brings her daughter back to the palace, raising her as the Crown Prince. As she grows into the role of the crown prince, she lives in constant fear that her true identity will be discovered, leading her to isolate herself and maintain a cold, guarded demeanor. Her life becomes complicated when she develops feelings for her teacher, Jung Ji-Un, who comes from a noble family.
Production
The series occupied the Monday and Tuesday 21:30 time slot on KBS2. It premiered following the conclusion of Police University and was succeeded by the drama Moonshine on December 20, 2021.
