The King in Love
The King in Love (Korean: 왕은 사랑한다; RR: Wangeun Saranghanda) is a South Korean historical television drama series that aired on MBC from July 17 to September 19, 2017. The series is set during the Goryeo period and explores themes of friendship, political intrigue, and romance.

Plot
The story follows Wang Won (Yim Si-Wan), a crown prince of the Goryeo Kingdom who possesses both a charismatic appearance and a strong ambition for power. He maintains a close bond with his bodyguard and childhood friend, Wang Rin (Hong Jong-Hyun), who belongs to a royal family. Their relationship is tested when they both fall in love with Eun San (Lim Yoon-A), the daughter of a wealthy man. As the three navigate the complexities of their personal feelings and the political landscape of the Goryeo court, their friendship faces significant strain.
Production
The series is based on the 2011 novel Wangeun Saranghanda by Kim Yi-Ryung. The production was directed by Kim Sang-Hyub and Kim Sang-Woo, with a screenplay by Song Ji-Na. The first script reading was held on December 21, 2016, at the MBC Broadcasting Station in Sangam, South Korea. Filming concluded on June 15, 2017, in Buyeo County, South Chungcheong Province.



Broadcast
The drama occupied the Monday and Tuesday 22:00 time slot on MBC, succeeding The Guardians and preceding 20th Century Boy and Girl. The series consists of 40 episodes, typically aired as two 35-minute segments per day.
