The K2 (South Korean Television Series)

The K2 is a South Korean action-thriller television series that aired on the cable network tvN from September 23 to November 12, 2016. The series consists of 16 episodes and was broadcast on Friday and Saturday at 20:00. It was directed by Kwak Jung-Hwan and written by Jang Hyeok-Rin.

Plot

The story follows Kim Je-Ha, a former mercenary soldier who becomes a bodyguard for hire, known by the codename "K2." He is hired by Choi Yoo-Jin, the wife of a presidential candidate and a member of a wealthy chaebol family. The narrative also centers on Ko An-Na, the reclusive secret daughter of the presidential hopeful, whose life becomes intertwined with Je-Ha's as he navigates the dangerous political landscape surrounding her family.

Production

The drama was originally developed under the working title "K2." The initial script reading for the cast took place in August 2016 at the CJ E&M Center in Sangam-dong, Seoul. The series occupied the Friday and Saturday 20:00 time slot on tvN, following the conclusion of The Good Wife and preceding Guardian: The Lonely and Great God.
