The Himalayas (2015 Film)
The Himalayas (Korean: 히말라야; RR: Himalaya) is a 2015 South Korean drama film directed by Lee Suk-hoon. The film is based on the real-life experiences of renowned South Korean mountaineer Uhm Hong-kil and his dedicated efforts to recover the body of his junior climber, Park Moo-taek, from the slopes of Mount Everest.

Production
The film was produced by Yoon Je-kyun and features a screenplay written by a collaborative team including Min Ji-eun, Soo Oh, Lee Suk-hoon, Yoon Je-kyun, Park Soo-jin, and Kang Dae-kyu. During the pre-production phase, actors Kim Myung-min and Lee Min-ki were initially attached to the project. However, both actors eventually withdrew due to production delays. Kim Myung-min had been originally cast to portray the lead character, Uhm Hong-kil, a role that was ultimately filled by Hwang Jung-min.
