The Hero (2013 South Korean Film)

The Hero (Korean: 더 히어로) is a South Korean drama film released on October 8, 2013. Directed by Kim Bong-Han, the film explores themes of fatherhood and family relationships. The production was distributed by Mines Entertainment and has a runtime of 98 minutes.

Plot

The story follows Joo-Yeon, a single father struggling to connect with his young son, Kyoo-Wan. Kyoo-Wan is an avid fan of a television superhero program titled Thunder Man. When the show is cancelled due to low ratings, the boy falls into a state of deep despair and refuses to eat. Witnessing his son's emotional distress, Joo-Yeon decides to take on the persona of the fictional hero to restore his son's happiness.

During its development phase, the film was known by the working title Thunder Man (Korean: 썬더맨).
