The Good Bad Mother (Korean: 나쁜엄마) is a South Korean television series that aired on JTBC from April 26 to June 8, 2023. The drama, directed by Sim Na-Yeon and written by Bae Se-Young, consists of 14 episodes and was broadcast in the Wednesday and Thursday 22:30 time slot.

Plot Synopsis

The story centers on Jin Young-Soon (played by Ra Mi-Ran), a single mother who operates a pig farm. Determined to ensure her son, Choi Kang-Ho (played by Lee Do-Hyun), does not suffer the same hardships she faced, she adopts a strict, demanding parenting style, which leads her son to perceive her as a "bad mother."

As an adult, Kang-Ho becomes a cold-hearted prosecutor, distancing himself from his mother to pursue his career and hide personal secrets. However, an unexpected accident leaves him with the mental capacity of a child. He returns to his hometown, forcing him and his mother to navigate a new life together. Their journey is intertwined with Lee Mi-Joo (played by Ahn Eun-Jin), a childhood friend of Kang-Ho known for her strong sense of justice, whose life is transformed upon reuniting with him.

Cast

The series features an ensemble cast portraying the residents of Jou-ri Village and figures from the Woobyeok and Oh Tae-Soo groups.

The Good Bad Mother occupied the JTBC Wednesday and Thursday 22:30 time slot, succeeding The Interest of Love. Following its conclusion, the slot was taken over by Miraculous Brothers on June 28, 2023.
