The Golden Holiday (2020 Film)
The Golden Holiday (Korean: 국제수사; RR: Gookjesoosa) is a 2020 South Korean action-comedy film directed and written by Kim Bong-Han. The film follows the story of Hong Byeong-Soo, a rural detective who travels abroad for the first time with his family, only to find himself embroiled in a criminal conspiracy.
Plot
Hong Byeong-Soo (Kwak Do-Won) is a detective based in the countryside. During his first overseas trip to the Philippines with his family, he becomes a suspect in a murder case orchestrated by a criminal named Patric (Kim Hee-Won). In an effort to clear his name, Byeong-Soo teams up with a local tour guide, Hwang Man-Cheol (Kim Dae-Myung). As they attempt to uncover the truth, they encounter Byeong-Soo's old friend, Kim Yong-Bae (Kim Sang-Ho), leading the investigation into unexpected territory.
Production
The film was produced by Shin Min-Chul and Jang Sung-Won and distributed by Showbox. During its development, the project was known by the working title Package. Principal photography for the film commenced on May 29, 2018, and concluded on September 20, 2018. The film was released in South Korea in August 2020 with a total runtime of 106 minutes.
