The Escape of the Seven

The Escape of the Seven (Korean: 7인의 탈출; RR: 7inui Talchul) is a South Korean television drama series that aired on SBS from September 15 to November 17, 2023. The series consists of 17 episodes and was broadcast in the Friday and Saturday 22:00 time slot.

Production

The series was directed by Joo Dong-Min and written by Kim Sun-Ok. The production team is notable for the reunion of director Joo Dong-Min, screenwriter Kim Sun-Ok, and actor Uhm Ki-Joon, who previously collaborated on the successful SBS drama series Penthouse. The series replaced The First Responders 2 in its time slot and was followed by My Demon.

Plot

The narrative centers on seven individuals who become entangled in the mysterious disappearance of a young girl, leading to a series of complex and explosive events. The characters include Matthew Lee, a mysterious figure who operates a major mobile platform company; Geum La-Hui, an ambitious CEO of a drama production company; Min Do-Hyeok, a former gangster; Han Mo-Ne, an aspiring idol; Cha Ju-Ran, an obstetrician; Yang Jin-Mo, the CEO of Cherry Entertainment; and Go Myoung-Ji, an art teacher.

Broadcast Schedule Adjustments

The broadcast schedule experienced a temporary interruption in October 2023. Episodes 7 and 8, originally scheduled for October 6 and 7, were postponed due to the coverage of the 19th Asian Games. These episodes were subsequently aired on October 13 and 14, 2023.

Sequel

A follow-up series titled The Escape of the Seven: Resurrection (Korean: 7인의 부활; RR: 7inui Boohwal) was released in 2024.
