The Elegant Empire (Korean: 우아한 제국; RR: Wooahan Jegug) is a South Korean television drama series that aired on the KBS2 network. The series premiered on August 7, 2023, and concluded on January 19, 2024, consisting of 105 episodes. It was broadcast in the Monday to Friday 19:50 time slot.

Production and Casting Changes

The series underwent a significant casting change during its production. Actor Kim Jin-Woo, who originally portrayed the lead male character Jang Ki-Yoon, departed from the series due to personal reasons. Starting from episode 33, which aired on October 9, 2023, the role of Jang Ki-Yoon was taken over by actor Lee Si-Kang.

Broadcast History

The Elegant Empire occupied the KBS2 weekday evening time slot, following the conclusion of the drama Woman in a Veil. Upon its completion in January 2024, the time slot was succeeded by the series The Two Sisters.
