Plot

In 1448, the Joseon Dynasty faces intense political pressure from the Ming Dynasty of China, which seeks to suppress Joseon's military advancements. King Sejong (played by Ahn Sung-ki) secretly commissions the development of the singijeon to secure national autonomy. When Ming officials discover the project, the lead researcher is killed, but his daughter, Hong-ri (Han Da-gam), escapes with the essential blueprints.

Hong-ri finds refuge with Seol-ju (Jung Jae-young), a wealthy merchant who has avoided political involvement following his father's execution for treason. Despite his initial reluctance, Seol-ju becomes involved in the project, motivated by his growing affection for Hong-ri. As the Ming Dynasty increases its threats, King Sejong is pressured to halt the project, forcing the protagonists to take matters into their own hands.
