The Deal (South Korean Web Series)
The Deal (Korean: 거래; RR: Georae) is a South Korean thriller web series that premiered on the streaming platform Wavve in 2023. The series consists of eight episodes and is based on the webcomic of the same name by author Woo Nam 20, which was first published on Naver in 2021.
Plot
The narrative centers on three former high school friends whose lives become dangerously intertwined. Lee Joon-Sung (Yoo Seung-Ho), a former promising soccer player whose life has spiraled into instability, attempts to turn his life around. However, he is drawn into a kidnapping scheme orchestrated by his friend, Song Jae-Hyo (Kim Dong-Hwi), a medical student facing a personal crisis. The target of their impulsive kidnapping is Park Min-Woo (Yoo Su-Bin), the only child of a wealthy family. The situation quickly escalates, forcing the characters to deal with the consequences of their actions.
Production and Release
Directed by Lee Jung-Gon, the series was written by Hong Jong-Sung. The show was selected for screening at the 28th Busan International Film Festival in October 2023, where it was featured in the On Screen section. The series was released on Wavve from October 6 to October 27, 2023.
