The Blade and Petal

The Blade and Petal (Korean: 칼과 꽃; RR: Kalgwa Kkot) is a South Korean historical television series that aired on KBS2 from July 3 to September 5, 2013. The drama consists of 20 episodes and was broadcast in the Wednesday and Thursday 21:55 time slot.

Plot

Set during the Goguryeo era, the story follows Princess Moo-Young (Kim Ok-Vin), the daughter of King Yeongnyu. The narrative centers on the political turmoil following the assassination of the King by the nobleman Yeon Gaesomun. Moo-Young finds herself in a complex emotional struggle as she falls in love with Yeon Choong (Uhm Tae-Woong), who is the son of the man responsible for her father's death, forcing her to choose between her desire for revenge and her romantic feelings.

Production

The series was directed by Kim Yong-Soo and written by Kwon Min-Soo. The initial script reading for the production occurred on May 27, 2013, at the KBS Annex Building in Seoul, South Korea, with cast members including Uhm Tae-Woong, Kim Ok-Vin, Lee Jung-Shin, and Kim Young-Chul in attendance.
