The Best Hit

The Best Hit (Korean: 최고의 한방; RR: Choigoui Hanbang) is a South Korean television series that aired on KBS2 from June 2 to July 22, 2017. The series consists of 32 episodes, broadcast on Friday and Saturday evenings.

Plot

The story follows Yoo Hyun-Jae (Yoon Si-Yoon), a prominent member of the 1990s idol group Jay-2. In 1993, following a mysterious disappearance, Hyun-Jae is presumed dead. Decades later, in 2017, he unexpectedly reappears in the modern era. The narrative explores his interactions with Lee Gwang-Jae (Cha Tae-Hyun), his former manager, and his son, Lee Ji-Hoon (Kim Min-Jae), who is secretly training to become an idol while pretending to study for civil service examinations.

Production

The series marked the directorial debut for actor Cha Tae-Hyun, who co-directed the project alongside Yoo Ho-Jin. Yoo Ho-Jin, known for his work on the reality-variety show 2 Days & 1 Night, transitioned to drama series directing with this project. The production team held the first script reading on April 3, 2017, in Sangam-dong, Seoul.

Broadcast History

The series was the first KBS2 drama to air in the Friday-Saturday time slot since the 2015 series The Producers. It was succeeded by Strongest Deliveryman on August 4, 2017.
