The Banker (2019 South Korean TV Series)

The Banker (Korean: 더 뱅커) is a South Korean television drama series that aired on MBC from March 27 to May 16, 2019. The series consists of 32 episodes, broadcast on Wednesday and Thursday nights at 22:00. It replaced the series Spring Turns to Spring and was followed by One Spring Night.

Plot

The story follows No Dae-Ho, played by Kim Sang-Joong, an honest and sincere branch manager at Daehan Bank. When his branch is marked for closure, he is unexpectedly promoted to the position of auditor at the bank's headquarters in Seoul. Upon arriving at the central office, he begins to uncover systemic corruption within the organization.

Production

The series is based on the Japanese manga Kansayaku Nozaki Shuhei, written by Ryouka Shuu and illustrated by Shigeru Noda, which was serialized in the magazine Manga Allman between 1998 and 2002. The script for the television adaptation was written by Seo Eun-Jung and Oh Hye-Ran, with direction by Lee Jae-Jin. The first script reading for the production took place in early December 2018 at the MBC Broadcasting Station in Sangam, South Korea.
