Takryu

Takryu (Korean: 탁류) is a South Korean historical drama series released in 2025. Directed by Choo Chang-Min and written by Chun Sung-Il, the series is set during the Joseon dynasty and centers on the economic and social dynamics surrounding the Gyeonggang River, a vital artery for trade and commerce at the time.

Plot Synopsis

The narrative follows the intersecting lives of three individuals whose fates become tied to the Gyeonggang River. The river, once a symbol of purity, has become a site of lawlessness and corruption, reflecting the broader state of Joseon society. The story explores the struggles of Jang Si-Yul (played by Ro Woon), a man with a mysterious past; Choi Eun (Shin Ye-Eun), a principled leader of a commercial group; and Jung Chun (Park Seo-Ham), a government official dedicated to rooting out corruption in the region.

Production

The series was broadcast on Disney+ from September 26 to October 17, 2025, spanning a total of nine episodes. The production features a large ensemble cast representing various factions, including the Police Bureau, local merchant guilds, and regional power brokers.
