Taegukgi: The Brotherhood of War (Korean: 태극기 휘날리며) is a 2004 South Korean war drama film directed by Kang Je-Gyu. Set during the outbreak of the Korean War in 1950, the film explores the harrowing experiences of two brothers forced into military service.

Plot

The story follows Lee Jin-Tae (Jang Dong-Gun) and his younger brother Lee Jin-Seok (Won Bin) after they are conscripted into the South Korean army. As the conflict intensifies, Jin-Tae, determined to protect his sibling, strives to earn a medal of honor, believing that such an achievement will secure Jin-Seok's discharge and return home. Meanwhile, Jin-Tae's fiancée, Kim Young-Shin (Lee Eun-Ju), faces her own struggles for survival amidst the political instability of the era.

Directed by Kang Je-Gyu, the film was released in South Korea on February 6, 2004. It was distributed by Showbox and has a runtime of 140 minutes. The film received recognition for its technical production, including awards for Best Cinematography and Best Technical Achievement at the 24th Critics Choice Awards in 2004.
