Sympathy For Us (Korean: 태어나서 미안해; RR: Taeeonaseo Mianhae) is a South Korean independent film released in 2012. Directed and written by Choi Young-Seok, the film explores the lives of three young men navigating the uncertainties of their final years in their twenties.

Plot

The story centers on three friends: Joo-An (Lim Joon-Sik), who walks with a limp; Yo-Da (Lim Dong-Yoon), who has visible birthmarks; and Deok-Jung (Kim Sang-Ho), a fan of Kurt Cobain with distinctively dyed hair. The trio struggles with a lack of direction and purpose in their lives. Seeking a change of pace, they embark on a New Year's trip to the port city of Gunsan. Their journey involves various complications as they attempt to reach the coast, where Yo-Da hopes to board a deep-sea fishing vessel while the others plan to enjoy local cuisine with friends.

Production

The film was produced by KAFA Films and distributed by CJ Entertainment. Principal photography for the project took place between November and December 2011. The film has a runtime of 80 minutes.
