Sub-zero Wind (Korean: 영하의 바람; RR: Yeonghaui Baram) is a 2019 South Korean drama film written and directed by Kim Yu-Ri. The film explores the lives of two girls, Young-Ha and Mi-Jin, as they navigate personal and familial instability over a seven-year period.

Plot

The narrative spans seven years, focusing on Young-Ha (played by Kwon Han-Sol). Abandoned by her father at the age of 12, Young-Ha is forced to return to a household shared with her mother, Eun-Suk (Shin Dong-Mi), and her stepfather (Park Jong-Hwan). Her mother's focus is primarily directed toward her career at a local church, leaving Young-Ha to manage her own emotional and domestic challenges. Simultaneously, the film follows the experiences of Young-Ha's cousin and close friend, Mi-Jin (Ok Su-Boon), who faces her own series of difficult circumstances.

Production and Release

The film was directed and written by Kim Yu-Ri. It held its world premiere at the Busan International Film Festival in October 2018. The film was later released theatrically in South Korea on November 14, 2019, through distributor JINJIN Pictures. It has a total runtime of 110 minutes.
