Student A (2018 Film)

Student A (Korean: 여중생A; RR: Yeojungsaeng A) is a 2018 South Korean drama film directed by Lee Kyung-sub. The film is an adaptation of the popular webcomic of the same name by author Heo5Pa6, which was serialized on Naver Webtoon from 2015 to 2017.

Plot

The story follows Jang Mi-rae, a middle school student who struggles with isolation at school and an abusive, unstable home environment involving an alcoholic father. To cope with her reality, Mi-rae finds solace in writing and immersive online role-playing games. Her life begins to shift when she is approached by a popular classmate named Baek-hab, who seeks to form a friendship. Simultaneously, Mi-rae develops a meaningful connection with a young man named Jae-hee, whom she meets through her online gaming community.

Production

The film was directed by Lee Kyung-sub and distributed by Lotte Entertainment. Principal photography for the project commenced on September 30, 2017, and concluded on November 11, 2017. The film was released in South Korean theaters on June 20, 2018, with a total runtime of 110 minutes.
