Starlight Falls (2022 Film)

Starlight Falls (Korean: 별빛이 내린다; RR: Byeolbichi Naerinda) is a 2022 South Korean film directed by Choi Kook-Hee. The narrative centers on the experiences of three university students in 1993 and their conflicting recollections of that period from the perspective of their adult lives.

Plot

The story follows Choi Kyung-Soo (Ong Seong-Wu), a student who moves from his hometown of Sokcho to Seoul to attend university. Struggling with social anxiety stemming from high school trauma, Kyung-Soo finds it difficult to connect with his peers. His university experience is defined by his interactions with two fellow freshmen, both named Lee Hyun-Jung. To differentiate them, they are referred to as Lee Hyun-Jung A (Esom) and Lee Hyun-Jung B (Shim Eun-Kyung).

Lee Hyun-Jung A is characterized by her confidence and maturity, traits that earn her admiration among her classmates. Conversely, Lee Hyun-Jung B is noted for her academic excellence, having entered the food and nutrition department at the top of her class, and is recognized for her intelligence and communication skills. As Kyung-Soo joins an astronomy club, he develops a romantic connection with Lee Hyun-Jung A, while simultaneously becoming the object of affection for Lee Hyun-Jung B.
