Squid Game Season 2

Squid Game Season 2 (Korean: 오징어게임 시즌2) is a South Korean survival drama series released on Netflix on December 26, 2024. The series was written and directed by Hwang Dong-Hyuk, serving as the direct sequel to the 2021 series Squid Game.

Plot

Following his victory in the first Squid Game, Seong Gi-Hun (played by Lee Jung-Jae) abandons his plans to relocate to the United States. Haunted by the trauma of the competition, he returns to Seoul with the objective of uncovering the individuals responsible for orchestrating the deadly games. Meanwhile, Detective Hwang Jun-Ho (played by Wi Ha-Jun) continues his investigation into the organization behind the games, searching for his brother, Hwang In-Ho (played by Lee Byung-Hun). Gi-Hun eventually re-enters the competition, this time with the intent to dismantle the system from within.

Production

The production of the second season was confirmed following the global success of the initial installment. The first script reading for the season took place on June 23, 2023. The series consists of seven episodes.
