Sinkhole (2021 Film)

Sinkhole (Korean: 싱크홀; RR: Singkeuhol) is a 2021 South Korean disaster-comedy film directed by Kim Ji-hoon. The film explores the survival of residents after their apartment building collapses into a massive sinkhole.

Plot

Park Dong-won (Kim Sung-kyun) finally achieves the goal of becoming a homeowner after ten years of saving. However, his joy is short-lived when his entire apartment building, Chungwoon Villa, collapses into a giant sinkhole. Trapped deep underground alongside his co-worker Kim Seung-hyun (Lee Kwang-soo) and his neighbor Jung Man-soo (Cha Seung-won), the group must work together to survive and find a way to escape.

Production

The film was directed by Kim Ji-hoon. Principal photography commenced in August 2019 and concluded on December 31, 2020. The film was distributed by Showbox and released in South Korea on August 11, 2021, with a total runtime of 113 minutes.
