Silk Shoes (Korean: 비단구두; RR: Bidan-gudu) is a 2006 South Korean comedy-drama film directed by Yeo Kyun-Dong. The film explores the intersection of personal ambition and unexpected obligations within the South Korean film industry.

Plot

The story follows Man-su (played by Choi Duk-Moon), a filmmaker struggling with the financial failure of his previous project and the disappearance of his producer. Burdened by significant debt, Man-su is approached by a money lender with an unusual proposition. Rather than demanding immediate repayment, the lender insists that Man-su produce a film for his elderly father, Bae. Bae, a North Korean defector, harbors a lifelong desire to visit his hometown before he dies. Facing no other viable options, Man-su agrees to the project, leading to a series of chaotic and complicated events as the production unfolds.

Production

Silk Shoes was directed by Yeo Kyun-Dong, who also co-wrote the screenplay alongside Shim San. The film was produced by Jo Min-Chul with cinematography by Je Chang-Gyu. It was released on June 22, 2006, with a runtime of 100 minutes and a reported production budget of approximately US$300,000.
