Shylock's Children (2022 TV Series)
Shylock's Children (Japanese: シャイロックの子供たち, Hepburn: Shylock no Kodomotachi) is a Japanese television drama series that aired on the WOWOW network in 2022. The series is based on the novel of the same name written by Jun Ikeido, which was originally published by Bungeishunju in January 2006.
Plot
The story centers on Masahiro Nishiki (played by Yoshihiko Inohara), a deputy manager at the Nagahara branch of Tokyo Daiichi Bank. The branch primarily serves small business clients. While Nishiki's career has not been particularly distinguished, he maintains a strong sense of trust in his colleagues. The narrative unfolds when one million yen in cash goes missing at the branch. As Nishiki investigates the incident and the suspicion falls upon a female employee, he suddenly disappears, triggering a deeper mystery.
Production
The series consists of five episodes and was broadcast on WOWOW's Sunday 22:00 time slot from October 9 to November 6, 2022. The production reunited director Kosuke Suzuki and screenwriter Youichi Maekawa, who had previously collaborated on the 2009 WOWOW series The Flying Tire, also adapted from a work by Jun Ikeido.
