Shim's Family (2007 Film)

Shim's Family (Korean: 좋지 아니한가; RR: Johji-anihanga) is a 2007 South Korean comedy-drama film directed by Jeong Yoon-Chul. The film depicts the lives of the members of the Shim family, a group struggling with personal secrets and internal dysfunction while attempting to maintain a semblance of domestic unity.

Plot

The narrative centers on the Shim family, whose members each harbor individual frustrations and hidden lives. The father, Shim Chang-Soo (Cheon Ho-Jin), is a high school teacher facing professional challenges and a reputation-damaging scandal. His wife, Hee-Kyung (Moon Hee-Kyung), struggles with feelings of neglect and carries her own secret. Their children, Yong-Tae (Yoo Ah-In) and Yong-Sun (Hwang Bo-Ra), grapple with their own existential anxieties; Yong-Tae experiences suicidal ideation and harbors delusions about his past life and parentage, while Yong-Sun questions the necessity of familial bonds and deals with a crush on a teacher. The household also includes an aunt, Mi-Kyung (Kim Hye-Soo), an aspiring comic book writer.
